The history of our company

Mr. H.L. Barentz established Barentz Chemische GRONDSTOFFEN B.V. in Amsterdam in 1953. Within the first decades of its existence, the company grew quickly and developed successfully into one of the leading suppliers of industrial raw materials on the Dutch market.

The establishment of Barentz N.V. in Zaventem, Belgium, in 1988 saw the opening of our first foreign office, which also marked the beginning of Barentz's international expansion in Europe. The successful fundament of this expansion was the establishment of Barentz Europe B.V. in the year 2000.

The head office of the Barentz group is situated in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. The Barentz group nowadays consists of a network of 15 sales offices, one production facility and a sourcing office. BARENTZ is active in more than 25 countries throughout Europe, and employs over 275 skilled and motivated professionals. The total sales during the year 2005 was EUR 340 million.
